Brighton - Royal Sussex County Hospital (Profile)

The Sussex Cardiac Centre is a newer cardiothoracic unit which opened in 1999. We have adult congenital cardiac services for grown up congenital heart patients provided by Dr Rachael James and Dr Natali Chung, intervention led by Dr David Hildick-Smith and surgery by Mr Uday Trivedi.

The centre provides care for patients with grown up congenital heart disease. Interventional and surgical procedures that are undertaken here include closure of patent foramen ovale, atrial septal defect and ventricular septal defect, closure of paravalvular leaks and implantation of aortic valves.



Medical Staff

Four cardiothoracic surgeons who operate on patients with acquired cardiac disorders: Uday Trivedi , Jonathan Hyde, Michael Lewis and Andrew Cohen.

Congenital disorders such as atrial septal defect and patent foramen ovale may be dealt with in addition during these adult procedures.

Three cardiologists with an interest in adult congenital work: Dr Cathy Head; Dr Rachael James and Dr David Hildick-Smith
